Plymouth

Jimmy R. Montague, Jr., 57, passed away unexpectedly on October 25, 2024 at Elkhart General Hospital. A lifelong resident of Plymouth, Jimmy was the son of James and Patricia Leatherman.

Jimmy embodied the values of hard work and dedication, which he instilled in his family. He was involved in the construction industry, working with Gibson-Lewis and proudly belonging to the Local 645 Union.

In his leisure time, Jimmy enjoyed exploring new places on his Harley Davidson, making memorable trips to destinations including Florida, Tennessee, and Mackinac in Michigan. A true gearhead, some of his most treasured moments were spent working on cars alongside his son, Taylor. In addition to his love for vehicles, he discovered a passion for music later in life and found joy in playing the drums, particularly relishing the song "Take Me Down" by Gary Clark, Jr.

Jimmy's playful spirit and zest for life will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Jimmy will be missed by his son, Taylor Montague (Fiancé – Aubrey Martinez); father, James Leatherman; siblings, Jackie Jones, Gary (Sherry) Montague, Randy Montague, Micky Montague, and Buck Montague; along with numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia; siblings, Danny Montague and Bonnie Coffin; grandson, Micah Montague; nephew, Warren Coffin; and niece, Tangie Marie Jones.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1PM on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Jimmy’s home.
