Jo Ann Meckstroth

Jo Ann Meckstroth, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth.

She was born on January 10, 1939, in Dallas, Texas. She was the daughter of John L. and Elizabeth (Becker) Herschbach.

She graduated from Red Bud High School in Red Bud, Illinois. Jo Ann attended Washington University and Deaconess Nursing School in St. Louis obtaining her degree as a Registered Nurse. Jo Ann married the late Rev. Ned A. Meckstroth on August 17, 1960, in Red Bud, Ill. He preceded her in death on August 19, 2011.

Jo Ann worked for Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, Parkview Hospital, and St. Joseph Regional Hospital, retiring in 2004 as the Head Critical Care Nurse. She was a woman with a heart of gold who put everyone else’s needs before her own. There were times of getting a call on a late Saturday afternoon when a patient needed care, and without hesitation she was on her way to tend to the situation. Truly someone is protective of the ones she loves.

She enjoyed her Bible Studies, reading, doing word searches, and putting puzzles together.

Jo Ann was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Plymouth and was an active member of the American Heart Association.

She is survived by her son Timothy (Jennifer) Meckstroth of Granger, IN; granddaughters: Hannah Meckstroth, Emily (Ethan) Haydock, and Abigail Meckstroth; and her granddogs: Poppi, Lief, and Stanley.

Jo Ann is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ned her two daughters Elizabeth Ann and Brenda, and sister Elizabeth.

Funeral services will be private to the family.

Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
