Joan R. “Granny†Hill, 82, passed away of congestive heart failure on Thursday, January 5, 2017 in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Joan was born May 18, 1934 in South Bend, Indiana to James E. and June E. (Fisher) Nafe. She graduated from Riley High School with the class of 1952. After, she attended the Indiana University School of Nursing.
On March 12, 1954, Joan married Paul M. Hill.
Granny as many called her locally, worked for Dr. Billy Jo Roberts’ Family Practice in South Bend until 1974. She then became a home care nurse in the Plymouth area. Helping others was her true passion in life and made it full. She enjoyed cake decorating from her home and cooking for her family and friends. Granny loved to play the piano and sing gospel. She donated to the 700 Club and God’s Kingdom Ministries.
Granny is survived by her children: Linda Hill Walsh of Plymouth, Sue (Oran) Sliter of Plymouth, Patti (Jeff) Moss of Goshen, James J. Hill of Mishawaka, Thomas N. (Robin) Hill of Elkhart and John P. Hill of Argos; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Judy Fisher of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Janice Webb, granddaughter Martina Sapp, and Brother-in-law, Harry Fisher.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2016 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will immediately follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Al Ganser officiating.
