John D. Heckaman 94, died Sunday at the Oaks in Columbia City. He was born February 2, 1912 in German Township, Marshall County. He married Ruth E. Kinney June 27th, 1931. She survives.
Mr. Heckaman was a farmer in German Township, Marshall County, and served as a Director for the Marshall County REMC and the Indiana Statewide REMC for 20 years. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Plymouth.
Together, they enjoyed extensive travel overseas.
Surviving are a daughter Dorothy Anderson (Dr. Henry) of Rockford Illinois, and a son, Marshall Heckaman (Sharon) of Columbia City, 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Preceding him in death were 2 daughters, Jeanette Chidister, and Berdine Asper, his parents, Benjamin and Kathryn (Edler) Heckaman, five brothers Harold, Devon, Russell, Paul and Charles, 1 sister, Ruth, 2 grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 14th from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St. Plymouth and continue after 7 a.m. Thursday, June 15th until time of services in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Steven Resner, pastor of the Calvary Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bremen Cemetery.
