John J. Pippenger, 85, a lifetime Marshall County resident, died, following an illness, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, at 10:54 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2006.
Born February 19, 1921, in Tyner, Indiana, John was the son of Delbert R. and Blanche Mae Haag Pippenger. He graduated from Tyner High School with the class of 1939.
John served in the United States Army during W.W. II.
On November 17, 1946, in Tyner, He and Phyllis J. Franklin were married.
A farmer, a profession that he dearly loved, he also worked at Bomarko, retiring in 1986 after 13 years of service.
John is survived by Phyllis, his devoted wife of sixty years and by their daughter and four sons.
Their daughter is Barbara Ellen and Delbert Wolff of Plymouth and their sons are: Michael R. Pippenger of Plymouth: John D. and Corrine Pippenger of Donaldson: the Rev. James R. and Dorothy Pippenger of Argos and Joseph G. Pippenger of Plymouth.
Ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive together with a brother, Raymond and Betty Pippenger of Hudson, Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dwight C. Pippenger and a sister, Helen E. Long.
Friends are invited to join the family in their celebration of the life of John Pippenger on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 7 a.m. on Thursday morning, December 14, 2006, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for John will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2006, in the funeral home.
The Rev. Wilson W. Shabaz, pastor of the Blissville Church of the Brethren, where John was a member, will officiate.
Burial will be in Tyner Cemetery, Tyner, Indiana, with full military honors.
