Joseph Henry Bailey, 45, a lifetime area resident, died after a courageous battle with cancer at 9:03 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Joe was born December 14, 1960, in Knox to Maston and Mary Francis Puckett Bailey. He was later adopted and raised by Ralph and Elsie Hill, and attended Plymouth schools.
On January 8, 1990, Joe and Karen E. Bunn were married in Plymouth.
Joe had worked as a carpenter for many years. He was a NASCAR fan, following Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and was an avid Salmon fisherman.
Joe is survived by his wife, Karen, two sons: Jospeh Lee Bailey and Jesse Ray Bailey, both of Plymouth, four step-daughters: Kristi Hawkins of Indianapolis; Amanda Schultz of Altamont, IL; Rebekah Fardi of Massachusetts and Rachel Hawkins of Plymouth and four grandchildren.
Also surviving are four brothers: Cecil Bailey of Indianapolis; Edgar Bailey of Knox; James Hill of Fairfield, Ohio; Richard Hill of Plymouth and three sisters: Edna Goze of Logansport; Ruby Boyle of North Judson and Sue O’Brien of Plymouth.
Joe was preceded in death by his parent and adoptive parents.
Friends may visit with Joe’s family from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2006, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Lloyd Howard, will be held in the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Burial will follow in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts may be made in Joe’s name to the American Cancer Society.
