Lifetime Plymouth resident, Juanita A. Creighbaum, 74, living at 822 W. LaPorte St., Plymouth, for the past 54 years, died, following an extended illness, at 4:45 p.m., Monday, March 4, 2002, in St. Joseph Medical Center, Plymouth. Born on June 1, 1927, in Plymouth, Ind., Juanita was the daughter of John and Flora Mae Herndon Gilley. She was a graduate of Plymouth High School. On March 29, 1947, in Plymouth, Juanita and Donald B. Creighbaum were married. Donald died on Feb. 9, 1998. Juanita was a kind and caring baby sitter for her family and for area residents. She enjoyed reading and cooking and was involved with her children and grandchildren’s activities. An animal lover, she was a Humane Society volunteer and assisted with their fund raising. A former member of the Women of the Moose, she was active in the Marshall County Democrat Party. Juanita is survived by three sons and their families: Daniel E., his wife Della, and their children; Nicholas, Benjamin, Emily, Jacob and Bethany Creighbaum. Kent J. Creighbaum, and Brent A., his wife Darla and their children; Krista, Tara and Jeana Creighbaum, all of Plymouth. Two brothers, Al and Marge Gilley, Plymouth and Donald and Nancy Gilley, Nappanee, survive, together with a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marjorie and George Schlosser, of Argos. Several nieces and nephews survive as well. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, Ben Gilley, a brother and Mildred Enders, a sister. Visitation with the family will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2002, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. The Rev. Charles Krieg, pastor of the Pretty Lake Trinity United Methodist Church where Juanita had attended services, will officiate at her funeral in the funeral home on Friday, March 8, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth. Memorial gifts in Juanita’s memory may be made to either the Cancer or the Humane Society.
