Julia Fern Hurford, 83, passed away at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at her 3rd Road home following an illness.
Born in Plymouth on March 1, 1931, Julia was the daughter of Karl ‘Bill’ Emmons and Julia (Taylor) Emmons. She was a graduate of LaPaz High School.
On October 14, 1950 in Plymouth, Indiana Julia married Frank W. Hurford and the couple would make Plymouth their home. Frank would precede Julia in death on April 9, 1997.
Julia worked as a cook at the Shady Rest Home for 10 years. She was a member of the Tyner United Methodist Church, Tyner Rebekah Lodge #865 and the Lakeville Eastern Star.
Julia is survived by her children; Douglas (Judy) Hurford of Plymouth, Steven (LeeAnn) Hurford of Helena, MT, Debra (Chris) Lozier of Warsaw, Frank E. Hurford of Plymouth, Anthony Hurford of Helena, MT, Jack (Jody) Hurford of Walkerton. Thirteen grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Siblings; Karl ‘Sonny’ (MaryAnn) Emmons of LaPaz, Roger Emmons of LaPaz, Judy Vegar of Plymouth along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank and sister Shirley Albert.
Visitation will be on Saturday, November 8th from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 9th in the Tyner United Methodist Church, 4503 French Street, Tyner, with Rev. Tamara Boggs officiating. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services in the church.
Burial will follow in the Tyner Cemetery.
