Karl Anderson, 74, 20822 10B Road, Plymouth, died of natural causes at 9:35 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth
Karl was born in Plymouth on August 11, 1937. A West High School graduate, he was the son of Gunnard and Dorothy Shafer Anderson.
He served his country honorably on active duty in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 and in the Reserves from 1958 to 1962.
On June 14, 1989, Karl and Bobbie Girten were married.
Karl was the owner/operator of G&K Anderson Construction for 45 years and was instrumental in building many residential homes and local restaurants, including The Brass Rail, The Hayloft and Story’s.
A true outdoorsman, he loved nature. A people person he never knew a stranger. He enjoyed fishing, was a great craftsman and his deepest pleasure was being with family and friends.
He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Karl is survived by Bobbie, his loving wife of 22 years and by a daughter, Andrea (Jeff) Lightfoot, Carmel, Ind., and a stepdaughter, Melanie (Tom) Vandyck, Fort Wayne, Ind.
A grandson, Connor Lightfoot and two granddaughters, Lindsey Vandyck, Indianapolis and Emily Vandyck, Fort Wayne, survive as well together with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A sister, Elaine (Fred) Koppenhofer, Grovertown and a brother Lloyd (Theresa) Anderson, Plymouth, also survive.
Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, September 9, 2011, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, Ind.
Funeral services for Karl will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2011 in the funeral home. The Rev Dennis Wenzel, pastor of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, will officiate.
Burial, with full military graveside Services, conducted by the Plymouth American Legion, V.F.W. and D.A.V. will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Donaldson, Ind.
