Flora Katherine “Katie†Kubley, 91, peacefully, in the presence of her family, was received into the arms of a loving Savior Friday evening at 7:22 p.m. She was a resident of Miller’s Assisted Living since 2003.
Katie was born in Vincennes, Indiana, the daughter of Waymon and Grace (Bridges) Pruett. Raised there, she graduated from Vincennes Lincoln High School in the Class of 1943. She attained her nursing degree through the Cadet Nurses Corps at Indianapolis General Hospital. She remained employed there as a registered nurse.
She met her future husband, Dr. James D. Kubley while at Indianapolis General where Jim was completing his internship. They were married on June 22, 1947 in Indianapolis. He would precede her in death in July 26th 1981. They made Plymouth their home to raise a family and St. Thomas Episcopal Church their home to worship.
Katie was forever active with her family first and foremost but assisting in the community with Red Cross Blood Drives. She enjoyed many summers at Pretty Lake and the Plymouth Country Club with many dear friends.
Her family includes six children: Dan & Susie Kubley of Indianapolis, Pam & John Barsness of Omaha, NE, Becky & Tim Dwyer of Pewaukee, WI, Jon & Mary Kubley of Plymouth, Rod Kubley of Plymouth and Dave Kubley & Tim Stephenson of Indianapolis. There are 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her spouse Jim, daughter-in-law Sue Kubley, brothers: Bernard and Kenneth Pruett and infant sister Nancy Pruett.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 6th from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 7th at 11 a.m. in St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 400 N. Center St., Plymouth with Fr. Thomas Haynes officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in the church’s Sheridan Hall.
Burial will be in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
