Kenneth A. Shabino, 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Culver IN on August 6, 2024. He was born on May 11, 1936, in Chicago, IL to Alvin and Charlotte (Weber) Shabino.

Ken dedicated 38 years of his life working in Customer Service with United Airlines, where he not only excelled in his career but also found the love of his life. He met beloved wife, Arlene Schumacher, during his time there, and they were united in marriage on August 10, 1990, in Addison, IL. Together, they built a life full of love and cherished memories. They relocated to Culver, IN in 2000 spending their retirement living on Lake Latonka.

Ken and Arlene were faithful members of Calvary Lutheran Church in Plymouth.

Ken was known for his fun-loving and gentle personality. He had a passion for traveling, with a particular fondness for wintering in Arizona or Florida. He also enjoyed exploring destinations like Door County Wisconsin and Colorado. In addition to traveling, Ken found joy in bowling and treasured the festive gatherings with family during Christmas.

A devoted fan, Ken found true happiness supporting his beloved Chicago Cubs. His joy was evident to all who knew him as he cheered on the Cubs through thick and thin. A part of Ken's life was attending the training games in Meza, AZ, where he experienced the thrill of baseball up close. Ken's dedication to his favorite team formed lifelong memories. His family and friends will forever cherish the spirit of camaraderie and love for the game that Ken embodied.

In moments of peace, he enjoyed listening to music; especially classical music from Bach or something more upbeat from the Kingston Trios or the Beach Boys. This passion started at a young age when he served as Junior Choir Director in High School and carried on throughout his life. While spending time with family, Ken could often be heard singing to his grandchildren.

In the hearts of those who survive him is the legacy of a dedicated husband and a kind-hearted individual. His memory will live on through the countless lives he has touched with his warmth and generosity.

Ken is survived by his loving wife, Arlene; children, Nanette (Tony) Bonyata, Lynda Hansen, Bruce (Suzanne) Shabino, Debra Kuhn, Jeffrey Kuhn, Kimberly (Michael) Stache, Michael (Lisa) Kuhn, and Kevin (Alyssa) Kuhn; 21 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
