Laura C Recio, 69, passed away peacefully with friends and family by her side on December 30th in Plymouth. She was born July 6, 1945 to Irvin and Phyllis (Crane) Beyer in Contra Costa, CA. She is survived by her son Mark and beloved grandson Drew (Westfield, IN).
Laura was a graduate of Hammond Bishop Noll (’63), received her Bachelor degree from Clarke University, Dubuque, Iowa (‘67) and her MSW from the IU School of Social Work (‘91).
Throughout a 40+ year career in counseling, she helped countless families, children and businesses through varying issues. She especially enjoyed her work in the field of play therapy, concentrating on helping kids be as happy and healthy as they can be.
She cherished her time scrapbooking and making cards and gifts for others. In the past year, she met her goal of attending each of her grandson’s baseball games, and spending as much time with him as possible.
There will be no visitation or services, cremation will take place.
Laura asked that donations in her memory be made to the Pet Refuge, 4626 S. Burnett Dr., South Bend, IN 46614.
