Laurene E. Bean, 56, 3933 King Road, Bremen, Ind., having come to the area from Nebraska in 1970, has died, following an illness, at 7:52 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2000.
Laurene died in the SCCI Hospital of Kokomo, Kokomo, Ind.
She was born on August 14, 1943, in Bloomfield, Nebraska, the daughter of Laurence W. and Esther A. Greenwall Havekost. She graduated from Bloomfield High School and attended Midland Lutheran College in Freemont, Neb.
On August 17, 1963, in Fremont, she and Richard R. “Dick” Bean were married.
For some time she worked for her husband in his Public Accounting business then went to work at U.S. Granules where she was employed until 1998 when she retired due to a medical disability.
Laurene enjoyed her grandchildren and family and will be remembered as always having a helping hand for anyone who needed her.
A member of the Second Wind Organization, she belonged to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Bloomfield, Nebraska.
Dick, her husband of 37 years, survives her death together with a daughter, Michelle and Chuck Sellers and three grandchildren, Derek, Chad and Krystal, all of Bourbon and a son Robert L. and Sharon Bean of Fayette, Mo.
LaVonne and Larry Monson, Laurene’s sister of Lincoln, Neb., survives as well.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, June 7, 2000, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, Ind.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2000, in the funeral home. Rev. David Gould of the Country Church, Bourbon will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bourbon.
Memorial gifts in Laurene’s memory may be made to the Marshall County 4-H Fair Association, or the Plymouth Lions Club.
