Lauretta May Berger, 89, of E. 6B Road, Plymouth, passed away in Pilgrim Manor at 3:09 a.m., Tuesday morning April 2, 2013.
Born in Plymouth on June 1, 1923, Lauretta was the daughter of James M. and Marie Tarent Gilbert. She lived in Plymouth all of her life, graduating from the 8th grade of Webster School in 1936.
On November 8, 1940, in Plymouth, Lauretta and Clifford Berger, Sr. were married. Clifford passed away on April 24, 2009, following almost 69 years of marriage.
A homemaker, Lauretta loved cooking. She was a member of the Friendly Circle of Purdue and the Women of the Moose.
Survivors include her children, a daughter, two sons and a daughter-in-law, all of Plymouth. Her daughter is Carol J. Benson and her sons are Clifford R. Berger, Jr. and James P. and Margaret Berger.
Four grandchildren: Robert Benson, Christine (Matthew) Lotter, Jason (Jenny) Berger and Kimberlee (Clint) Schnitz; 5 great grandchildren: Amanda Benson, Andrew Benson, Jacob Berger, Clayton Schnitz and Carissa (Bradley) McCulley; and two great-greatgrandchildren: Alaina Lotter and Cashton McCulley, also survive.
Lauretta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings: Ed Gilbert, Bob Gilbert, Helen Platz, Laurene Gunterman, Richard “Dick” Gilbert and Don Gilbert.
A time of visitation will be held on Friday April 5, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to – 1:00 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 North Michigan Street, Plymouth.
Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Chuck Krieg will officiate.
Burial will be in the Bremen Cemetery.
