Laverne C. Keck

LaVerne C. (Mrs. Herbert) Keck, 88, passed away at home with her family near at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2016. She was a lifetime area resident.

LaVerne was born on July 6, 1928 in Teegarden, Indiana to Millard C. and Grace B. (Aldrich) Lemert. She attended Teegarden High School and graduated in 1946 from Tyner High School.

She married Herbert A. Keck in Teegarden on February 26, 1950. He would precede her in death on November 30, 2008.

Living near Teegarden all her life, LaVerne was a Christian lady, a devoted wife and loving mother to her three sons. She enjoyed gardening, bicycling and reading. She was a member of the First Brethren Church in Teegarden.

She is survived by her sons: Lorie A. (Kathy) Keck of Lost Creek, Kentucky, Robbie L. (Suzan) Keck, and Jamie R. Keck, all of Walkerton. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and her sister, LaEuna Zumbaugh of Plymouth.

LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Charles Lemert.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 20th from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21st in the First Brethren Church of Teegarden where visitation will continue one hour prior to services in the church. Her sons, Revs. Rob Keck and Lorie Keck will officiate.

She will then be laid to rest next to her husband Herbert in the Morris Cemetery, west of LaPaz on U.S. Hwy 6.
