Lewis E. Richard, 98, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Pilgrim Manor. A lifelong resident of Plymouth, Lewis was a double rainbow baby born on February 13, 1927 to Charles and Agnes (Crist) Richard.
Lewis was a proud member of the first graduating class of Argos High School in 1945. His deep faith was evident in his unwavering involvement with St. Michael Catholic Church, where he lived out his beliefs through love, kindness, and support. A true humanitarian, he devoted his time and resources to numerous causes, including St. Michael Catholic School, Harvest House, and the Marshall County Neighborhood Center.
Lewis showcased his dedication to hard work on his farm, where he found joy in nurturing the land and watching his crops flourish. He raised Holsteins on his dairy farm, and in his later years, he became known as a master gardener, with a talent that his family cherished. Many warm memories surround his natural green thumb and the pride he took in harvesting life from the earth. In his golden years, he found joy in peaceful car rides through the countryside, often marveling at the advancements in modern farming while fondly reminiscing about how he once tended to the fields himself. Lewis was a simple, hardworking man that led life with a grateful heart.
Lewis is survived by his sister, Judy (Thomas) Stevenson; along with numerous nieces and nephews who have lovingly helped care for him through the years. While he never had any children of his own, he was a great-great-great uncle that cherished all of his nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Agnes; and his siblings, Martha Zeiger-Barker, Loyola Davis, Raymond Richard, Lucy Schlosser, Joseph Richard and Robert Richard, and infant siblings, Mary and George.
