Louise Berleman, 85, a former Plymouth resident of 1500 Kenwood Ave., died of natural causes in the East Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Elkhart, Ind., at 2:17 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002. Her Elkhart home was at 1900 Jeanwood Drive . Louise was born on Dec. 8, 1916, in Owenton, KY. She was the daughter of Ransom and Carmen Bennett Souder. On Dec. 31, 1949 , in Cincinnati , Ohio , Louise and Leonard Berleman were married. Leonard died on June 23, 1986.
Louise worked for a time at the Ben Franklin Store in Plymouth, and retired from Meister’s Ben Franklin in Bremen . She enjoyed all sorts of crafts and was an excellent seamstress and loved to sew. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Plymouth . Louise is survived by two daughters and their families. They are: Carmeen L. (George L.) Johnston, LaCross , Wis. , and Rochelle A. (Patrick L.) Fager, Union , Mich. A brother, John Souder of Peoria , Ariz. , eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband a son, John R. Ellington. Friends may call at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, from 11 to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002. Funeral services will follow visitation at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Rex Stairs, will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery , Argos , Ind. Memorial gifts in Louise’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
