Lovette F. “Betts” Roahrig, 88, a lifetime Marshall County resident, formerly of Bourbon, died of natural causes at 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2006, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, Indiana.
Born in Plymouth on August 24, 1918, the daughter of Albert and Fairy Yenna Rhoade, Betts was a 1937 graduate of Plymouth High School.
Her husband, Oley graduated the year before. The couple were married on September 24, 1939, in Inwood, Indiana.
Oley and Betts bought the family farm in 1948. She lived in the same home for over 57 years. Married for nearly 63 years, Oley died on June 4, 2002.
A homemaker, Betts’ greatest joy were her grandchildren and their activities.
She was a member of the Inwood United Methodist Church.
Betts is survived by a daughter and two sons. Her daughter and son-in-law is Judy A. and Roger McKinney, Argos. Her sons, both of Plymouth, are David L. and Stephanie L. Roahrig and Stanley O. Roahrig.
Six grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren also survive, together with two sisters, Venus Lindsey, Argos and Marjorie Rhoade, Plymouth, and a sister-in-law, Frances Lemler of Bourbon.
Betts was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter-in-law, Susie Roahrig, two brothers and a sister.
Friends will be welcomed to celebrate the life of Betts Roahrig from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2006, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Gail Law of the Inwood United Methodist Church, will be held in the funeral home on Monday, June 5, 2006, at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will be in the New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, Indiana.
