Lucille Ross, 84, a lifetime area resident living at W. 1st Rd. Walkerton, Ind., died, following a short illness, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, at 11:20 p.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2004. She was 84 years old.
Born in Marshall County on April 25, 1920, Lucille was the daughter of Jesse and Ruth Killian Burkholder. She was a 1938 graduate of Tyner High School.
On Christmas Eve, December 24, 1941, in her parent’s home on Union Rd. near Donaldson, Lucille and Wayne E. Ross were married. This year would have been their 63rd wedding anniversary.
A homemaker and mother, Lucille was an avid gardener and loved to can her home grown vegetables for her family. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and loved to read. She was a member of the Plymouth Wesleyan Church.
Lucille is survived by her husband, three daughters and two sons.
Her daughters are: Marilyn Skiles, Cape Coral, Fla.; Judi and Steve Macy, Ft. Myers, Fla. and Myra and Mike Farmer, Sweetser, Ind. Vern and Lynn Ross and Jack and Jana Ross, all of Plymouth, are her sons and their spouses.
Fourteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one brother, Willard Burkholder, of Tyner, Ind., survive as well.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Jonathan Ross and two sisters and a brother: Thelma Ecker, Eva Stull and Donald Burkholder.
Friends will be welcomed to visit with the family today, Sunday, December 5, 2004, from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Lucille will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 6, 2004, in the funeral home with the Rev. Scott Bills officiating.
Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorials in Lucille’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
