Margaret L. (Barnard) Peregrine, a Plymouth area resident for most of her life, died at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2008, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth. She was 92-years-old.
Margaret was born in Culver, Ind., on February 1, 1916. She was the daughter of Edward J. and Grace Fanning Bergman, the fourth of their seven children. She was a 1934 graduate of Plymouth High School.
On September 3, 1938, in Rochester, Ind., Margaret and Joseph E. Barnard were married. Joseph died on June 2, 1982.
She married Calvin C. Peregrine on February 17, 1987. Calvin died on February 11, 1989.
Margaret and Joseph Barnard were co-owners of a Party Package store in Plymouth during their marriage.
She enjoyed playing golf and spending time with her grandchildren.
A member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, she also belonged to St. Michael’s Rosary Society and Harvest House.
She was a member-at-large of Delta Theta Tau sorority and was a member of the Ladies Gold League. Margaret is survived by a daughter, Diane (James) Day of Bloomington, Ind., and a son, Stephen D. Barnard of Indianapolis.
Five grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren also survive her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands and an infant son, Joseph A. Barnard.
Three sisters and three brothers have also died. They are sisters: Martha J. Miller, Mary E. Kelsey and Julia A. Johnson. Her brothers were James B., John Edward and George A. Bergman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 613 N. Center St., Plymouth, on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Father William Kummer, pastor of the church, will officiate.
Entombment will be in the New Oakhill Mausoleum, Plymouth, Ind.
Memorial gifts in Margaret’s name may be made to Riley Children’s Hospital in Honor of Brayden Day.
