Margaret M. Leeper, 88, a lifetime Marshall County resident, living at the same address for the past 53 years, died unexpectedly of natural causes, in her home, 14699 Hickory Rd., Argos, at 6 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2005.
She was born in Burr Oak, Ind., on September 5, 1917, the daughter of Fredric N. and Dora Hissong Neidlinger. She graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1936.
On August 13, 1939, in Plymouth, Margaret and J. Ward Leeper were married. Ward, after 57 years of marriage, died on June 21, 1996
For many of those years, Margaret and Ward farmed together with their family members.
Margaret was very much involved with her family and always enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. She was active in the former Bethel Methodist Church and a current member of the Inwood United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being a member of the County Home Extension Club.
She was a flower and vegetable gardener and enjoyed canning and freezing their produce. For ten winters, she and her husband traveled to Texas.
She is survived by two sons and their families. They are James Ward and Mary Jo Leeper, Jr., Warsaw, Ind.; and Dr. Richard W. and Tracey Leeper, Argos, Ind.
Four grandchildren also survive: Jamie W. and Stacy Leeper, Warsaw; Jackie Leeper-Thompson and spouse David, Jon M. Leeper and Adam M. Leeper, both of Argos, Ind. Four great-grandchildren survive as well.
Three sisters and two brothers and several nieces and nephews survive Margaret’s death. Her sisters are: Mary Ann Austin, Yearlington, Nev.; Fern and Earl Nifong, Argos, Ind.; and LaVanch Yarian, Bremen, Ind.
Her brothers are Dale L. Neidlinger, Plymouth and Orland R. and Eloise Neidlinger, Roswell, Ga.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, a son, John Leeper and a brother, Russell Neidlinger.
Friends are invited by the family to celebrate the life of Margaret Leeper from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2005, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, and for one hour prior to services on Monday, October 10, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. in the Plymouth Church of the Brethren, 1130 N. Michigan St. The Rev. Gail Law, pastor of the Inwood United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial contributions in Margaret’s memory may be made to the Inwood United Methodist Church.
