Margaret Pauline Wakeland

February 7, 1914 — August 13, 2009

Margaret Pauline Wakeland was healed perfectly and went to join her Lord in Heaven Thursday evening August 13th.

She was born February 7, 1914 in rural Carroll County Indiana. Her parents were Alex & Nettie (Shuey) Nicoll. They both preceded her in death. She was married to W. Mearl Wakeland on September 14, 1931. Mearl passed away on December 21, 1974. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Muriel Etta.

Margaret was a long time Plymouth resident and a member of the Plymouth Church of the Brethren. She was retired from Hart, Shaftner & Marx in Rochester.

She is survived by her children; Doris Swank of Naples, FL, Robert (Karen) Wakeland of Columbia City, IN, Gary (Peggy) Wakeland of Naples FL. , Judy Smith and Jay (Pam) Wakeland of Plymouth.

Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren; Michael Wakeland, Teri (Robert) Mace, Michelle DeGulis, Tim (Allison)Wakeland, Scott Smith, Kira (Mike) Sturgis, Tami (Paul) Flanders, Andrew Smith, Ted (Kathleen) Wakeland, Mindi (Steve) Kincade, Holly Lyttle, Josh (Dana) Wakeland, Keli (Chad) Hankee and Jared Wakeland. She is also survived by her brother Alfred Nicoll of Arizona, sisters Vivian Roller of Peru, IN and Eva Foote of Iowa, and half brother Don Nicoll of Lucerne, IN. Also surviving are 19 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2009 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, IN, and on Tuesday, one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Ruth Yoder, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2009 in the Plymouth Church of the Brethren, 1130 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, IN.

Per her wishes, Margaret will be cremated and her ashes scattered across the waters of her beloved Sebec Lake in Maine.

Memorial gifts in Margaret’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Plymouth Church of the Brethren’s Ladies Aide.
