Maria de los Angeles Fernandez, 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 27, 2021, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth.
Born in Mexico on August 14, 1946, Maria was the daughter of Benito Castillo and Antonia (Montez) Fernandez.
She worked as a laborer for Bay Valley Foods in Plymouth until her retirement in 2011.
Maria was strong-willed, stubborn but with the warmest and loving heart. She was happy-go-lucky but had no problem putting you in your place with her strict love. She taught her children to never give up.
Maria enjoyed cooking and making homemade tortillas. She adored her grandchildren and loved to send them home full of sugar.
She is dearly missed by her children: Juan “Stevie” Guerrero, Maria Christina Guerrero, Norma (Shane) Eddington, Jose David Guerrero and Jose Elias Luba, all of Plymouth; her ex-husband, Manuel Guerrero Jr.; grandchildren: Anthony, Sammantha, Randa, Damian, Jazmyn, J.J. and Eli; 5 great grandchildren; and brothers, Roberto and Enrique Fernandez.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Nicole Thornton, 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021, at 12 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Bourbon.
