Martha Jane Shively, 75, formerly of Tuxedo Drive in Plymouth, passed away on Saturday evening September 16, 2017 at her residence in Muncie.
Martha was born on March 26, 1942 in Rochester, Indiana to Von and Betty (McWhinney) Anderson. She attended Warsaw schools and graduated in 1960. She then attended Ball State University graduating in 1964 with a B.A. and continued to receive her Master’s in 1964. She married the love of her life, Dean Shively on June 16, 1962 in Warsaw, Indiana. She was his devoted and loving wife throughout her marriage. Martha was Elementary Teacher in the Knox Community School system and was a lifetime educator for 26 and ½ years retiring in 2003. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, baking, working outside with her flowers, shopping for Dean and her grandchildren, attending the theater with her family, traveling with her sisters, and spending time with her friends. Martha and Dean seldom missed the countless ball games and swim meets her grandchildren participated in. She will be dearly missed by her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Kurt) Klem and Jennifer (Darren) Reno both of Indianapolis, Indiana and one son, Bradley Shively of Atlanta, Georgia. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Michael, Owen, Erik, Keira and Eleanor and one sister, Linda (Steve) Moore of Muncie, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dean on May 13, 2017, and one sister, Barbara Van Wey.
Visitation for Martha will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 P.M. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 P.M. with the Rev. Toni L. Carmer officiating.
Burial will be in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
