Mary Beth Town, 75, an area resident since 1986, passed away at 7:40 p.m. on Monday June 20, 2011 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center – Plymouth Campus due to natural causes. Known for her gentle nature and infectiously sweet laugh, Mary Beth was a resident in the Pathfinders Home located at 604 N. Liberty St. and will be greatly missed.
Born in South Bend, Indiana on August 3, 1935 she was the daughter of Forbes Kenneth and Kathleen B. (Searles) Town, now deceased.
Mary Beth attended school through the fourth grade and was then stricken with a severe illness that left her with limitations and in 1976 she became a resident of the Ft. Wayne State Developmental Center until her move to Plymouth. She was creative and enjoyed latch hooking, reading, joking, watching movies; especially Shirley Temple, Notre Dame and her favorite meal always included chicken.
She is survived by a brother, Forbes Town, a nephew, Alan (Lisa) Town, many friends, and her extended family of caregivers to whom her family is so very grateful. They are: Therese, Terri, Tara, Joanne, Marty and Colleen.
She was preceded in death by her sister Audrey F. Town and a brother; Ronald K. Town.
Friends will be welcomed by the family at Johnson-Danielson funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, on Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 9 – 11 a.m. Services will follow in the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Fr. William Kummer, Pastor of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Plymouth officiating. Interment will be at Highland cemetery, South Bend, Indiana
