Mary K. Neu

December 18, 1923 — May 19, 2013

Mary Kathryn Neu, 89, formerly of Plymouth, Indiana, passed away on May 19, 2013. Mary was recently a resident of Sunrise Senior Living in Lombard, Illinois. She was born December 18, 1923 in Bremen, Indiana to John and Alwine Ryder. She graduated from Bremen High School in 1941. After graduating high school, Mary worked at Associates South Bend, Indiana and the Bremen Bank, Bremen, Indiana.

On January 16, 1954, Mary married James Henry Neu. She resided in Plymouth, Indiana till 2007.

Mary was a dedicated volunteer with the Lutheran Braille Workers group at Calvary Lutheran Church, Plymouth, Indiana for over 25 years. She also served on the Altar Guild at Calvary Lutheran for many years. Most recently, Mary was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Western Springs, Illinois.

She enjoyed golfing, reading and knitting; but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Mary is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Neu-Stoppelman (Gary Stoppelman) of Oak Park, Illinois and Nancy (Dan) Swanson of Western Springs, Illinois, her grandchildren, Lauren, Margaret and Peter Swanson and her loving nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Jack Ryder and her sister Elizabeth Thayer.

Visitation will be from 10 – 11 am on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1314 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth Indiana. Funeral services will follow at 11 am. Interment will be at New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, Indiana.
