Maxine E. Grover, 82, of Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, died of natural causes in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, at 3:32 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2009. A resident of Marshall County most of her life, Maxine was born on December 30, 1926 in Elkhart, IN, the daughter of William and Josephine Margaret Bollencher McCalmont.

On January 22, 1946, Maxine and Lester Grover were married in the parsonage of Rev. Walter and Gladys Mangun in Plymouth. Lester died November 23, 2005.

Maxine worked at Morris’ Five and Dime store and at Wards during the 1950’s. She said she “didn’t retire, I just quit.”

She was a member of the VFW in Plymouth and a former member of the Bible Baptist Church.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles and delighted in finding the words in word puzzles.

Maxine was close to a number of family members. She is survived by two nieces: Donna (Dwight) Hite of Culver, Barb (Bruce) Pearson of Argos; two nephews: Jim (Judy) Grover, Culver, and Jerry (Joyce) Grover, Greenfield; five great nieces: Kristin (Tony) Lidgard, April (Adam) Tener, Nicole Hite and Kathy Grover; Debby (Jerry) Carlson: three great nephews: Mike (Bobbie Jo) Grover, Travis Hite and Cody Hite and a sister-in-law, Dolores M. Grover of Argos. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and a half-sister, Helen Holderman.

Visitation will be from 4 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.

The funeral service for Maxine will follow visitation at 5:00 p .m. in the funeral home. The Rev. George L. Swank will officiate.

Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery.
