Michael “Blu” R. Blubaugh

February 2, 1949 — September 27, 2023

Michael “Blu” R. Blubaugh, 74, a lifelong resident of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2023 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born to Raymond and Wilma Jean (Calhoun) Blubaugh on February 2, 1949.

Michael graduated from Plymouth High School in 1967 and went on to receive his Associate Degree from the Michiana College of Commerce. After graduating from high school, he met his lifelong sweetheart, Sharon Zehner, during a hog roast at a mutual friend’s house. He would go on to marry Sharon on June 19, 1976 at the Conservation Club House in Plymouth.

Michael honorably served his country in the United States Navy as a Radio Operator. He served during Vietnam on the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Ranger. He was a member of the American Legion Post 27 in Plymouth and spent time working for veteran services. Michael was also a member of the Plymouth VFW and the Moose Lodge. He worked in public and private accounting, most recently working at Grissom Air Force Base before his retirement.

He was known to those who loved him as being laid back and easy going. He taught the importance of family and was one who always put his family first. Michael loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time.

Michael is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Jennifer (Stephen) Guriel of Plymouth and Jeremy (Mai Linh) Blubaugh of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Carter, Madalynn, Calhoun, Leo, Cora, and Boden; and brother, Mark (Darlene) Blubaugh of Plymouth.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Wilma Jean.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 21, 2023 from 12 – 4PM at the American Legion Post 27, 1040 E. Jefferson Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Military honors will be performed by the US Navy and the American Legion at 12PM.
