Milo W. “Mike” Klingerman, 77, an Indianapolis resident most of his life, living in Warsaw, Ind., for the past six years, died of natural causes at 3:18 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2007, in the Veterans’ Administration’s Northern Indiana Health Care System, Fort Wayne Division.
Born in Claypool, Ind., on February 10, 1930, Mike was the son of Morgan and Vada C. (Stanton) Klingerman.
He was raised in Claypool and attended schools there.
After his marriage to Lila Hale on December 23, 1950, in Elkhart, the couple lived briefly in Maryland prior to moving to the Indianapolis area.
Mike served his country in the United States Army from July of 1951 to July of 1953. He was on active duty during the Korean War.
Prior to raising his family, Mike was a stock car racer and an auto body repair and painting shop owner.
He has always enjoyed cars and following, NASCAR and the Indianapolis 500 races.
He was a longtime caregiver to his mother and his great aunt Lulu Stanton.
Mike was an accomplished acoustic guitar player.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 74 and the V.F.W. of Indianapolis.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Sue and spouse James W. Curtis of Big Pine, Calif. and two granddaughters: Stephanie M. (Richard) Simpson, Big Pine, Calif., and Melissa L. (Kenneth) Sexton, Wilkerson, Calif. Five great-grandchildren survive as well.
Mike was preceded in death by his spouse, a son, Michael Ward Klingerman, a daughter, Pamela June Klingerman and two brothers, Vern and Raymond Klingerman.
There will be no visitation or services at this time. Burial will be in Tyner Cemetery, Tyner, Ind.
