Former River Park resident, Morris “Wally” Wallace, 89, of Plymouth, passed away at 6:55 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2011, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
Born in Argos, on May 12, 1922, Wally was the son of Frank and Pearl Bennett Wallace.
Wally had attended Richland Center School and was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II. On January 1, 1944, in Argos, Indiana, Wally and Virginia Stayton were married. Virginia preceded him in death on April 26, 2011
He had worked for R.E.M.C. as a groundsman for 18 years and as a production worker at Bendix for 15 years.
A longtime member of the Argos Bible Church, Wally enjoyed travelling throughout the United States and Canada and working crossword puzzles.
He is survived by a sister, Ruby Shivley of Ft. Wayne and several nieces and nephews.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia; a sister; Anna Jane Stockberger; and six brothers: Wayne, Kenton, Carl, Ray, Frank and Donald.
Visitation will be held from 4 – 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 in the Argos Bible Church 225 S. Michigan Street where services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. The Rev. Philip Platz will officiate.
Graveside services with military honors provided by members of the American Legion Post 27, V.F.W. Post 1162, D.A.V. and the South Bend Honor Guard, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
