Ms. Juanita R. Stapan

June 13, 1934 — November 4, 2018

Ms. Juanita R. “Skeeter” Stapan, 84, and lifetime Plymouth resident, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018 in her daughter’s home in Mishawaka.

Juanita was born in Plymouth on June 13, 1934 to Harry A. and Nellie V. (Dawson) Wallace.

On November 15, 1959 in Culver, Indiana, Juanita married Robert “Jim” Stapan. He would precede her in death on July 31, 2009.

She had a passion for Jesus Christ and had a love for serving people through waitressing and volunteering at Miller’s Merry Manor Assisted Living- helping with birthday celebrations and BINGO. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many.

Juanita was a huge fan and supporter of the Military, showing her patriotism through and through. She enjoyed the seasonal holidays and always dressed for the occasion, including her earrings. She enjoyed collecting antiques, especially depression glassware. Anyone who knew her, knew her favorite color was red. If she bought a vehicle it “of course had to be red”.

She is survived by her daughters, Debra (Roger) Stockberger of Argos and Tami (Rick) Schmidt of Mishawaka, as well as, grandchildren, Eric (Samantha) Stockberger and Ella Schmidt. Her siblings are: Alvina Florea, Nadine Rice, Linda Sheets, and Devere Wallace.

Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings: Clayton, Derl, Merlin, Burton and Roena Yazel.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2018 in the First United Methodist Church, 400 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth with Pastor Toni Carmer officiating. Visitation will resume one hour prior in the church, and all are welcome to wear red in her honor.

Burial will be in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth on Tuesday, November 13.

The family would like to thank friends and her caregivers, for all the love and support during her final days.
