Myrtle V. Smith

PLYMOUTH – Myrtle V. Smith, 89, a Marshall County resident for most of her life, residing in Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton, died at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2006, in Our Lady of Peace Hospital, South Bend, Indiana.

Myrtle was born in Bremen, Indiana, on December 7, 1916. She was the daughter of John and Loneta Whitsell Aldrich.

She was a 1935 graduate of Polk Township High School.

On September 14, 1940, Myrtle and Jesse M. Smith were married in Rochester, Indiana.

Myrtle worked as clerk for Sears & Roebuck in South Bend for seven years and had also worked as a receptionist in several different beauty shops.

She enjoyed being a mother and raising her family.

Myrtle is survived by Jesse, her husband of 66 years, Walkerton, and by their two sons, a daughter and their families.

They are Ronald E. and Peggy Smith, Plymouth: Daniel L. and Janet Smith, Walkerton,

and Linda L. and Kenneth Henry, Lexington, Kentucky.

Five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends will be welcomed to celebrate Myrtle’s life with her family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2006, and after 7:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2006, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 on Monday morning, November 20, 2006, in the funeral home.

The Rev., Robbie Keck, pastor of the Teegarden First Brethren Church, where Myrtle was a member, will officiate.

Burial will be in the Morris Cemetery, LaPaz, Indiana.

Memorial gifts in Myrtle’s memory may be made to the Teegarden First Brethren Church.
