Norma F. Norton, 88, 7599 Lincoln Highway, a Marshall County lifetime resident living in Plymouth since 1948, coming from Bremen, died on Friday, December 27, 2002. Norma died of natural causes at 5:20 p.m. in Pilgrim Manor Care Center. Born on September 4, 1914 , in Bremen , she was the daughter of Oscar and Almira Hochstetler Roth. She graduated from Bremen High School. On December 11, 1948 , Norma and Elias “Fred” Norton were married at Inwood, Ind. Prior to becoming a full-time mother and homemaker, Norma worked as an x-ray technician at the South Bend Osteopathic Hospital. An active woman with many interests, Norma enjoyed over 35 years of family fishing trips, primarily in Coldwater, Mich. She rode horses, did needlework and was excellent cook, favored for her great apple pie. She was a member of the Yellowstone Home Economic Club of Marshall County. Norma is survived by Fred, her husband of 54 years, one son, one daughter and their families. Her son is Nelson O. “Duke” (Melody) Norton of Plymouth and children, Brooke Enyart of Kokomo and Micah Robertson of Plymouth. Daughter Mary L. (Dennis) Carter of Plymouth , and children Caroline Carter, Freesoil , Mich. , and Michael Carter of Holland , Mich. , also survive. Four great-grandchildren and Ina (Arthur) Laidig, a sister, of Palmetto, Florida , survive as well. Norma was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2002, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2002. The Rev. Dr. David Moffett-Moore, pastor of the First United Church of Christ of which Norma was a member, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth. Memorial contributions in Norma’s memory may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
