Notre Wayne McCann, 92, a 55-year resident of Plymouth living in Crossroads Village, Portage, Mich., since 2000, died of natural causes in the Borgress Medical Center, Kalamazoo, Mich., at 10:25 p.m. on Monday, January, 13, 2003. Wayne was born in Leesburg, Ind., on June 30, 1910, the son of Merrill and Stella Rea McCann. He was a 1928 graduate of Leesburg High School. Afterwards he attended training for his profession through the Amoco Oil Company. On August 5, 1929, in Warsaw, Ind., Wayne and Mabel I. Stookey were married. Mabel died on May 26, 1999. Wayne retired in 1972 as the supervisor of Asphalt Sales for Northern Indiana with the Amoco Company after 28 years of service. In the 1930s, Wayne played semi-pro basketball in Indiana. He was an avid golfer and loved to fish. A member of the First United Methodist Church, he was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Masonic Lodge of Leesburg, Ind. Wayne is survived by a daughter, Myrna Jackson, Kalamazoo, Mich., and her two sons: Scott W. (Kim) Jackson and Stephen K. Jackson, both of Battle Creek, Mich. A great-granddaughter, Brittnee N. and a great-grandson, Ryan Jackson, both of Battle Creek, survive as well, together with a brother, Heber McCann, Tallmadge, Ohio. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel and a son, James A. McCann. A time of sharing memories with the family will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2003, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St.., Plymouth, Ind. Funeral services will follow visitation at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Dean Fager, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Plymouth, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, Ind.
