Orville M. “Bud” Melton, 126 1/2 Michigan Rd., Argos, formerly of Kentucky, died unexpectedly of natural causes, at 8:50 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2001, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth. A resident of Argos since 1996, Bud was 65 years old.
Born in Burkesville, Ky., on June 30, 1935, he was the son of Charlie Melton and Annis Davidson Melton Ferrell. He attended Burkesville schools.
A Chief Boatswain Mate in the United States Navy, Bud served his country during the Vietnam era.
On May 8, 1960, in Las Vegas, Nev., Bud and his former spouse, Maciva Rose were married.
He worked in maintenance and production work with the Pioneer Seed plants in various locations. He was with the Plymouth plant for ten years.
As a sport, Bud enjoyed bowling.
He is survived by his former spouse and by a daughter, Kathy D. Curry of Rantoul, Ill. Four granddaughters also survive. They are Raychel, Kahlee, Marissa and Mikayla.
Two brothers also survive: Robert Melton, Indiana, and James H. and Barbara Ferrell of Sellersburg, Indiana, together with three sisters, all of Burkesville, Ky. They are: Mae Ferrell, Inez Ferrell and Shirley Melton. Numerous nieces and nephews survive as well.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents and a step-father, William Ferrell.
Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, February 21, 2001, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, from 5 to 7 p.m.
On Thursday, February 22, 2001, from 4 to 9 p.m., friends will be received in the Ballou Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Burkesville, Ky., where funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2001.
Burial will be in the Smith Family Cemetery, Burkesville, Ky.
