Oscar D. Loveless, 68, of 400 W. Washington St., Plymouth, died of natural causes in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth at 11:50 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2006.
Born in Holland, Missouri, on April 28, 1937, Oscar was the son of Oscar H. and Emily Verly Weaver Loveless. He attended school through the 8th grade.
In 2003, he retired as the caretaker of the Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele, Missouri. He had also worked at Hybcki Funeral Home in Illinois with the Valley Ambulance Service. An excellent EMT, Oscar was credited with saving hundreds of lives.
He was also the owner of Loveless Laundry and Dry Cleaning.
Oscar enjoyed fishing and loved in interact with people. He liked to eat out and he would often go for walks, socializing with various people he met. He was known as a jokester and a wisecracker.
A member of the Steele, Missouri Masonic Lodge, Oscar was affiliated with the First Baptist Church in Steele, Missouri.
Oscar is survived by two sons and two daughters. They are Oscar and Heather Loveless, Knox, Indiana: Debbie and Kenneth Stokes, Mississippi; Charlotte Phipps, and David Lovelace, both of Ottawa, Illinois.
Eight grandchildren, together with Sharon Heister, his girl friend of Culver, Indiana, survives as well.
Oscar’s grandchildren are: John and Tina Laster, Valparaiso, Indiana; Lisa and Blake Baldwin, Highland, Indiana; Amanda Dykes, Hammond, Indiana; Jesse Phipps, Daniel Phipps and Reba Phipps, all of Ottawa, Illinois; Crystal Moore, Missouri; and Mike Moore, Mississippi. Three brothers also survive Oscar’s death. The brothers are Samuel Loveless, Coloma, Michigan: and Larry Loveless and Kenneth Loveless, both of St. Louis, Missouri.
Oscar was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Jeanette Slaughter and Ophelia Roton, both from Mississippi. Two brothers have also died: Bill and Carl Loveless.
Burial will be at a later date in Mount Zion Cemetery, Steele, Missouri.
