Patricia A. “Pat” Butler, 82, 17456 14B Road, Culver, Ind., died unexpectedly due to an illness in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, at 7:48 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2007.
Pat was born in Lima, Ohio, on August 8, 1924. She was the daughter of John R. and F. Alyce Brown Pett.
An area resident most of her life, she graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1942.
On May 10, 1958, in Plymouth, Pat and Harold R. “Dick” Butler were married. Harold died on November 13, 1983.
Pat was employed for 22 ½ years as a teller in the Marshall County Bank. She retired in 1965.
She collected turtles of all shapes and kinds. She enjoyed feeding the birds and loved to bake and share her bounty with everyone.
Pat was a former Girl Scout leader and assisted the Culver Community School marching band in parades by passing out ice to the musicians.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Plymouth and the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W.
Pat is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Nathan Mersch of Argos.
Two granddaughters, Robyn Mersch, Newark, Ohio, and Amber and Danny Swanson, Rochester, Ind., also survive together with a great-granddaughter, Skye M. Swanson of Rochester.
Pat was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Kroeger and two brothers, Richard E. Pett, Sr. and Kenneth Pett.
Friends will be welcomed to share memories of Pat with her family from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church, 400 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Memorial services will follow visitation at 7 p.m. in the church. The Rev. Dr. Dean Fager, pastor of the church, will officiate.
Interment will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Pat’s memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
