Patricia “Pat” R. Ruffing, 10926 Hawthorn Rd., Plymouth, died of natural causes at 3:44 pm on Saturday, June 3, 2006, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.
Pat was 65-years-old.
Born in Chester, West Virginia, on January 25, 1941, she was the daughter of William B. and Elva Rebecca Rice West.
She graduated from John Glenn High School.
Pat was married to Eddie F. Ruffing on August 11, 1978, in Plymouth, Indiana. Eddie died on January 18, 2005. Pat lived in Plymouth for over 40 years. She was an office clerk at Martin’s Super Market.
Pat enjoyed line dancing but her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Inwood United Methodist Church.
Pat is survived by four daughters and three sons. Her daughters are Penni Carpenter, Plymouth, Indiana; Rebecca L.Easterday, Warsaw, Indiana; Tina Carpenter, Warsaw, Indiana; and Valarie and John Cooke, Knox, Indiana.
Her sons are David and Dawn Carpenter, Bremen, Indiana, Lester and Judy Ruffing, Argos, Indiana and Bruce and Cindy Ruffing, Fennville, Michigan.
Nineteen grandchildren and nine and ½ great-grandchildren also survive.
Four sisters and two brothers survive her death as well. Her sisters are Mary Crago, Bourbon, Indiana, Elsie Palmer; Helen McClintick and Dianna Boroff, both of Plymouth, Indiana.
Her surviving brothers are John E. West, Bourbon, Indiana and Denver W. West, Plymouth, Indiana.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her wonderful husband and a daughter, Diane Carpenter.
A sister, Nancy Mosher and a brother, Kenneth R. West, have also died before her.
Friends will be welcomed by the family to celebrate the life of Pat Ruffing on Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 7:00 am on Wednesday June 7, 2006.
Funeral services for Pat will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2006, in the funeral home. Pastor Gail Law, pastor of the Inwood United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, Indiana.
Memorial gifts in Pat’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
