Ralph W. Reynolds

Ralph W. Reynolds, 10255 Pretty Lake Trail, a resident of Plymouth since 1978, died, following a short illness, at 8:05 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2003 , in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center , Plymouth . He was ninety years old and a beloved member of the Pretty Lake community. Ralph was born the son of William A. and Mary M. Rhodes Reynolds in Chicago, Ill. , on January 11, 1913. He was a graduate of Englewood High School , Chicago , in 1931, and Purdue University as a Mechanical Engineer, in 1936, where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. On August 8, 1937, in Lafayette, Ind., Ralph and Marjorie M. Cripe were married. Ralph retired as the Chief Engineer for Holcomb & Hoke Manufacturing Company, Indianapolis, in 1978. He and Marjorie then moved to their Pretty Lake home which was built as a vacation home by Ralph’s father in the 1920’s. While at Purdue, he formed a dance band and was a life-long jazz lover. Ralph was known for his great sense of humor and being a good conversationalist, he often told amusing stories about Chicago ’s ‘crime gangs’. A member of the Plymouth Country Club, he was an avid golfer and served for many years as a board member and a two year president of the club. Ralph is survived by Marjorie, his devoted wife of 65 years, and their three children: William R. ( Frances ) Reynolds, Sante Fe , N.M. ; Joellen J. (Peter) Lippett, Orinda , Calif. , and Jonathan P. (Priscilla) Reynolds, Columbus , Ind. Four grandchildren also survive: Alexandra Taylor, Houston, TX., Victoria Reynolds, Columbus, Ind., David Reynolds and Peter Reynolds, New York, N.Y. Joseph Cripe, Indianapolis, a brother-in-law and Gene Cripe, a brother-in-law, Cottonwood, Ariz., survive as well. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Ralph’s life on Monday, February 10, 2003 , from noon to 2 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St. , Plymouth . Funeral services conducted by Pastor Les Johnson, Chaplain of the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, will follow at the conclusion of visitation at 2 p.m. Interment will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
