D. Ray Minnix, 64, a lifetime area resident, died at his residence, following an illness at 9:36 a.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2007.
He was born in Knox, Indiana, on May 27, 1942, the son of Gomer and Ruby Jackson Minix.
He attended Walkerton High School.
While serving in the United States Army with the Military Police, he was acknowledged to be the youngest M.P. in the troops.
Ray was a machinist. He retired from the Bendix Corp. in South Bend.
He loved fast sports cars, beautiful women and played a great game of pool.
He will be missed by his many friends and family members.
Ray was a member of the LaPaz American Legion Post 385.
He is survived by a daughter and a son. They are Tina and Steve Phipps, Warsaw, Indiana, and Tracy and Renee Minnix, Syracuse, Indiana.
Three grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and a sister, Judy and Harold Farver, Plymouth, Indiana, survive as well.
Ray was preceded in death by his father, Gomer Minix, his mother, Ruby Wireman, a daughter, Carol Ann Minnix and a son, Troy Minnix.
Memorial services, including military rites, will be held at the Walkerton American Legion, 302 Kentucky Ave., Walkerton, Indiana, at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, 2007.
The Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, is in charge of arrangement.
Memorial gifts in memory of Ray may be made to the Warsaw Animal Welfare League or the Warsaw 24 Hour Club.
