Rev. Glen Russell Johnson, 88, Plymouth, passed away in Alaska on October 19, 2011. Glen, a loving husband, father and grandfather, went home to be with the Lord as a result of an automobile accident in Alaska where he had been a missionary, bush pilot and pastor for 42 years, from 1969 to 2011.
Glen was born in Plymouth, the son of Mack Tennant Johnson, Sr. and Myrtle Lura Johnson, on September 30, 1923.
He first worked in South Bend, Indiana as an Assembly of God minister.
He served his country in the military from 1943 to 1945.
On January 25, 1943, Glen and Dorothy Ketcham were married.
Dorothy, his wife of 68 years and their son, the Rev. Johnnie R. Johnson and his wife, Mary Ann, Fort Gratiot, Michigan, survive Glen’s passing.
Three grandchildren: Alicia (Toby) Easton, Raleigh, N.C.: Angie (William) Faber, Grand Rapids, Michigan: and Chad Aaron (Kelly) Johnson, survive together with nine-great-grandchildren: Ashley, Gabe, Andrew and Andre Easton and Faith, Anna Faber, Courtney, Jeremy and Wesley Johnson.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers. They are Elaine, Virginia, Irene, Mack, Jr., Lewis (Tommy) and Forest (Pat).
Friends will be welcomed by the family at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2011.
Funeral services will follow visitation at 2 p.m. and will be conducted by Glen’s son, the Rev. Johnnie Johnson.
Burial will be in the Morris Cemetery, on U.S. 6, west of LaPaz, Indiana.
