A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 9, 2003, at 11a.m. in the Walnut Church of the Brethren, 19056 Gumwood Rd. Argos, for Rev. Hugh W. Campbell. A resident of 312 Center St. , Argos , Hugh died of natural causes on Sunday, December 1, 2002 , in St. Joseph ’s Medical Center , South Bend . The Rev. Tony Schneiders, pastor will officiate. Hugh was born in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania , on March 29, 1935. He was the son of Edward Earl and Mary Elizabeth Campbell. A minister for 41 years, Hugh received his Bachelor’s Degrees from Cedarville University and Bob Jones University . He earned a Master’s Degree from Indiana University , South Bend . Hugh retired from the ministry in 1997, having pastored at the Christian Tabernacle in Dayton, Ohio for 13 years; the Faith Bible Church, in Joliet, Ill., for eight years and at Plymouth’s Sunrise Chapel for ten years. He also ministered at Faith Chapel, Harrisburg, Ill., and the United Methodist Church, Alma, Ill. He was a former board member of both the Spanish World Gospel Missions in Warsaw , Ind. , for 15 years and World Missionary Press, New Paris , Ind. for 12 years. He served for 30 years as Assistant Executive Director and board member of the Evangelical Christian Alliance , Bradley , Ill. , and was also a member of the board of Correll Ministries for 15 years, doing mission work in 29 different countries. His hobbies were reading, golf and running. On June 27, 1992 , in Argos , Hugh and Judith L. Dickinson were married. Judith survives his death along with two sons, two-step-sons, a daughter and a step-daughter. His sons and step-sons are Stephen M. (Michelle) Campbell, Atlanta, Ga.; Joel L. (Dana) Campbell, Stillwater, Minn.; David A. Truman, Plymouth, Ind., and Jeffery (Kimberly) Herrin, Macey, Ind. Hugh’s daughter is Jill M. (Michael) Law, Melborne , Fla. , and step-daughter, Jennifer K. (Joel) Fox, Seattle , Wash. Three brothers, Samuel (Mary) Campbell in San Diego , Calif. , Kenneth in Largo , Fla. , and John (Joan) Campbell, Darlington , Penn. , and a sister, Ruth (Edward) Campbell Jones, Elkton, Md., together with five grandchildren, also survive. Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Madison Law and a sister, Jane Campbell Dobbs. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery , Argos , Indiana . Memorial gifts in Hugh’s name may be made to the Walnut Church of the Brethren.
