Rex A. Mishler, 71, passed away at home on April 18, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born to Everett and Kathryn (Stahly) Mishler on November 21, 1952 in Goshen.
While Rex worked at Republic Services as a Lead Operator for numerous years, his true passion in life was working on the farm. Rex most recently worked at Houin Farms until his illness no longer allowed him to do so. He embodied what it meant to be a farmer by teaching his family how to drive and repair tractors; along with showing them how to farm. Being a member of the Johnny Poppers Club, the group would have a farming operation of two-cylinder John Deere tractors and donate the proceeds of their crop to local community organizations. This was a family tradition that not only showed the importance of agriculture but instilled the values of generosity and kindness in his family. One of the things that put the biggest smile on Rex’s face was when he would drive his tractors in parades and he got to see how much joy they brought to those watching.
Rex will be dearly remembered by his family for his ornery, joking, and fun personality. He was full of life; always the life of the party. Anyone who met Rex knew that he was easy-going, friendly, and loved those around him. He wasn’t judgmental, but was very honest, would say his peace, and move on. Rex also enjoyed watching western movies and shows; especially Bonanza, Gunsmoke, F Troop, and anything with John Wayne.
He was a faithful member of the Union Center Church of the Brethren in Nappaneee.
Rex will be deeply missed by his children, Jenifer Fisher and Jeremiah Juarez (Stacie Reed); grandchildren, Hannah and Kaylee; great-grandchildren, Ava and Alana; siblings, Kermit, Jerry, Dan, Howard, Marlene, Carol Ann, and Grace; along with 16 nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Kathryn.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 15, 2024 at 4PM at the Union Center Church of the Brethren, 70535 Co Rd 11, Nappanee, IN 46550. A private meal for family and close friends will immediately follow.
A special note of appreciation to Jenifer, Alesheia, Gary, Howard, Laura, Brian, Greg, Carolyn, and all of those who helped out or came to visit Rex in his final months. Your presence was greatly appreciated by those who love him.
