Richard Alan Jones

December 17, 1950 — June 15, 2005

Richard Alan “Rick” Jones, with his supportive family and friends to comfort him, ended his enduring battle with Huntington’s Disease, at 7:40 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2005. Rick, of 7382 S.R. 17, Plymouth, died in the genuine care of Miller’s Merry Manor, Culver where he had made his home for nearly the past two years. He loved and experienced life until his passing at the age of 54.

Born on December 17, 1950, in Clarksburg, W. Va., Rick was the son of Bill Don and Nancy Crane Jones.

He graduated from Hopedale High School, Hopedale, Ohio, with the class of 1968 and from the United Electronic Institute of Akron, Ohio.

On April 1, 1972, Rick and Susan Lynn Stoufer were married in Echo, Minn.

He worked for United Telephone, as an equipment installer, and later was a central office employee for Sprint for a total of 23 years. Due to his health he retired in 1992.

Rick loved all sports and especially followed the Plymouth teams. He was a fan of the Indy and NASCAR races and was a youth coach for baseball and Jr. League football. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening and all that nature had to offer.

He is survived by Susan, his devoted wife of 33 years and by their son and daughter-in-law, Wade A. and Rebecca Jones, Shoreview, Minn. and mother Nancy Jones of Hopedale, Ohio.

Two granddaughters also survive: Cadyn Evelyn Jones and Lauryn Esther Jones.

A brother, Randy and Cheryl Jones of Marysville, Ohio and a sister, Beth and Roger Davenport of Hopedale, Ohio, also survive, together with five nephews, several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Rick was preceded in death by his father.

Friends will be welcomed by the family from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2005, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.

Funeral services for Rick will be held on Saturday afternoon, following visitation at 4 p.m., in the funeral home. Delron Shirley, a pastor of Christ Chapel, South Bend, where Rick was a member, will officiate.

Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery.

Memorial gifts in Rick’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
