Lifetime Plymouth resident, Richard C. “Rich” Kuskye, 71, died at 3:45 a.m. Sunday Dec. 2, 2001 in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth. His death was attributed to complications following emergency surgery on November 16. Rich was born in South Bend, Ind. the son of Lawrence and Mildred A. Richardson Kuskye. Raised in West Township, Rich graduated from West High School with the Class of 1949. On March 4, 1951 he married Patricia A. Hartman. From 1949 to 1963 Rich was a dedicated employee with the Studebaker Corporation and retired in December of 1989 from AM General, both of South Bend. If Rich had a hobby it was his family. He enjoyed every fun minute with them and was a great influence on his grandchildren. Rich was a proud member of the Plymouth Kilwinning Masonic Lodge No. 149, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of South Bend, Orak Shrine of Michigan City and the NRA . Rich is survived by his wife Pat, two daughters, two sons and their families: Vickie A. Kuskye of Plymouth, Candie L. and Loren Riddle of Lakeville, Ind., Richard C. Kuskye II, and spouse Susan; Kirk E.M. Kuskye, spouse Kimberly all of Plymouth. Grandchildren include, Richard C. Kuskye III, his wife Jennifer and their daughter Zoë. Grandsons; Simon Kuskye and Richard Cibryon Kuskye, along with Kirk Kuskye II and son Jacob; granddaughters, Tiffany and Cassondra. Three sisters and three brothers also survive; Viola “Dodie” and Richard Reese, Evelyn and Bill Wenino, Scarlett Kuskye, Lawrence and Marilyn Kuskye, Elson “Duke” Kuskye, Ralph and Pat Kuskye all of Plymouth. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Everett Kuskye. Friends may call at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, on Tuesday Dec. 4 from 3 – 8 p.m. Visitation will conclude with a Masonic Memorial Service at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Wed. Dec. 5 at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Charles Krieg, pastor of the Pretty Lake Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth. Memorial gifts in Rich’s name may be made to the Salvation Army or Shriners Children’s Hospital.
