Lifetime Marshall County resident, Roger L. Greenlee, 73, died following an illness at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, May 06, 2002 , in the Hospice House of St. Joseph County , Roseland; where he had been a patient since Friday evening. Roger and his wife Nila have made their home at 10732 King Road, Plymouth for the past 32 years. Born in Plymouth on October 24, 1928 , Roger was the son of John P. and Dorothy I. Deacon Greenlee. He was raised at Inwood and graduated from Bourbon High School with the Class of 1946. Following graduation he served in the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant stationed in Texas and Japan . On November 16, 1952 , at the Inwood Church parsonage, Roger took as his bride the former Nila J. Hendricks, this year marks their 50th Anniversary. Roger was dedicated to his work and employer; the Bendix Corporation of South Bend, where he began his career prior to his stint in the armed forces and returned to continue working until his retirement in 1994. Much of Roger’s time following retirement was spent tending to his impeccable lawn, flower and vegetable gardens. He enjoyed fishing local lakes and spending time with his family was the only real hobby he needed. He is survived by his wife Nila, a daughter; Marla K. and Clyde Morgan and their children, Michelle A., Joshua J. and Benjamin L., all of Battle Creek, Michigan. A son; Dave W. Greenlee and his son Jordan Taylor both of Plymouth . Also surviving are his brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Wayne and Leota Hendricks of Plymouth, several nieces and nephews including Roger’s niece, Mary Ann Moeller-Avery, her husband Steve, and children; Drew and Skyler of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister; Donna Pownall. Visitation with the family will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2002 , in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St. , Plymouth . Funeral services will be held in the funeral home, on Thursday, May 9, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. , officiated by the Rev. Paul McBride, Plymouth and Elder Tod Masters, Medaryville. Burial will follow in the New Oakhill Cemetery , Plymouth .
