August 26, 1944 — December 5, 2023

Ronald J. Davis, 79 of Plymouth, Indiana, passed away at 8:58 pm Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend.

On August 26, 1944, Ron was born in Plymouth to William Lawrence and Loyola (Richard) Davis.  He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1962 and then attended Purdue University, West Lafayette.

Ron was a devoted lifetime farmer, who loved working with the genetics of his milk cows.  He also worked for Delmonte Foods, for twelve years as a lab technician until his retirement.  He was a member of Indiana Rural Youth, Marshall County from the 1960’s into the early 1970’s.  He traveled with the Indiana Rural Youth, visiting Europe, especially Austria and Germany. Ron also was a member of the Marshall County Dairy Association, who he would be a judge for, judging clean pins for the 4H.

He was known for having a great sense of humor.  He was loved by all his friends and would always be there to help when they needed him.  But Ron would not except help, always trying to do things for himself.  Ron enjoyed watching college football and basketball, depending on the season.

Ron is survived by his brother, Larry Davis, Plymouth; his sister, Connie (Doug) Marks, Deming, New Mexico; two nieces, Holly (Ben) Carter, Bloomington; Julie (Jonathan) McCord, Spokane, Washington; three nephews, Richard Davis, Bourbon; Reggie (Kathryn) Davis, Fort Wayne, and Chris (Jennifer) Marks, Erwin, Tennessee.  He is also survived by eight great nieces and nephews, which includes Kaia Carter, Bloomington.  He was preceded by his parents.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.  Burial will be in New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ron’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
