Former Kankakee resident, Rosalyn J. “Rose” DeLude, 68, died at home, following a short illness, at 7:09 a.m., on Sunday, August 20, 2006. For the past two years, she has resided at the family home of her daughter located at 11749 11th Road, Plymouth. Born June 1, 1938, in Portsmouth, Ohio, she was the daughter of Elmo and Harriet Bray Starkey and was baptized into the Roman Catholic faith.
She graduated from St. Patrick High School, Kankakee, Illinois, with the class of 1956. She then earned an Associate Degree in Business Arts from St. Francis of Assisi College of Rochester, Minnesota.
On July 4, 1959, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Kankakee, Illinois, Rose and Richard L. DeLude were married.
Rose worked for 14 years as an executive secretary with the former Lehigh Stone Corp, now Medusa Aggregates of Kankakee.
Having a great appreciation for nature, she along with her husband are former members of the Kankakee Valley Wanderers and enjoyed camping with family and friends. Her grandchildren remember her as a great cook and for the many card games they shared – especially poker.
She was a past president of the organization, W.I.C. –Women in Construction, Kankakee Chapter and was a member of the Realtor’s Association in Clark County Nevada while residing in Boulder City.
Rose is survived by Richard, her husband of 47 years and by their daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Michael Osman, all of Plymouth.
Two granddaughters and two grandsons also survive. They are: granddaughters, Brianne Osman, Boulder City, Nevada and Darien Osman, Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Her grandsons with whom she made her home are: Aiden and Reuben Osman, both of Plymouth.
A great-granddaughter, Lily Easter and two great-grandsons, Izec and Chase Easter, all of Boulder City, Nevada, survive as well.
Two brothers and sisters-in-law, Barry and Brenda Starkey of Kankakee, and Timothy and Kathleen Starkey of San Jose, California, also survive together with a sister, Susan Zarlenga, of La Grange, Ill., and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Peter Michael DeLude and a sister, Patricia Leszczewicz and a brother, Roger Starkey.
There will be no visitation and no services.
