Rose Marie Carolyn Hattery, 72, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025. She was born at Parkview Hospital in Plymouth on January 2, 1953 to Christina Carolyn Kovacs. She is fondly remembered as “Moe,” given the nickname by her 1st grandchild.

Moe was a steadfast advocate for others, dedicating 22 years of her life as a case worker at Bowen Center. Her commitment to helping those in need extended to her role at Pathfinders, where she provided invaluable support to individuals in group homes. Even outside of her professional endeavors, Moe’s kindness shone through; she actively delivered meals from food banks to various group homes across Marshall County, showing her unwavering dedication to making a difference in her community. She instilled in her children the virtues of kindness, compassion, and the importance of lending a helping hand, encouraging them to nurture these values throughout their lives. A faithful woman at heart, Moe also taught her children the comforting truth that talking to God could happen anywhere, creating a legacy of faith in their lives.

Moe’s love for nature was reflected in the warm and inviting homes she created for her family, adorned with her stunning flower gardens—a testament to her nurturing spirit. She treasured the moments spent with loved ones during numerous mushroom hunting trips, often followed by leisurely country cruises.

As we remember Moe, we celebrate a remarkable woman whose life was characterized by her unwavering love for her family, her devotion to helping others, and her deep connection to nature. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched.

Moe will be sorely missed by her children, Jason Hattery, James (Gayle) Hattery, Buffy (Shawn) Speirs, and Donny (Heather) Hattery; grandchildren, Joey, Levi, Brandon, Cassidy, Sam, Dylan, Tyler, Courtney, Tristan, and Kenna; great-grandchildren, Brynlee, Serena, Wessy, Emma, Harper, and Nash; siblings, Terry (Bev) Kovacs and Kathy Hess; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Christina; son, infant Hattery; and grandson, Eric.
