Lifetime Plymouth resident Roxanne Croy, 74, passed away at 5:40 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2013 in her home under the loving care of her family and hospice.
The daughter of James “Red” Edward and Violet “Bob” G. Fear Elliott, Roxanne was born on August 10, 1939 in Plymouth. She was a 1958 graduate of Plymouth High School.
Before she was able to go to college, her future husband, Robert “Bob” Croy , stole her heart. Roxanne and Bob were married on April 28, 1959 in Plymouth.
A “Hometown Girl”, Roxanne had worked at Burger Chef, Ziebart as a co-owner with her husband Bob, was a cook for the Plymouth Community Schools and in 2002, she retired as a cook for Behavioral Health Care, where the patients loved her food. She had also volunteered for Hospice and the Kiwanis Camp.
She loved being with her family, driving and sightseeing around the countryside, camping, cooking and baking for family and friends. She and Bob had been “snowbirds” in Florida for several winters. A person with a very sharp mind, she was very loveable, loved singing and just this year, she learned to “whistle”. A member of the North Salem Church of God since the 1980’s, Roxanne was very active in her church.
Roxanne is survived by Bob, her husband of 54 years, four children, Dennis L. (Linda) Croy of Plymouth, Kay E. (Jeff) Harness of South Bend, Sara L. (Andrew) Watson of Argos and Douglas A. (Laura) Croy of Plymouth; two sisters: Molly Jo Bailey of Plymouth and Susan (James) Hill of Fairfield, OH and their families; her mother-in-law, Aletha Croy of North Liberty; and four brothers and sisters-in-law, along with their families; and several cousins.. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren: Joshua, Caleb, Marisa, Jessianna, Mary-Elizabeth, Sage, River, Tabitha-Hadassah, Ridge, Ezra and Zalix; and four great grandchildren. Her lifelong friend, Gail Pontius of Sebring, FL: two “adopted” daughters: “Gabby” Doerscher of Argos and Mandi Thomas-Bell, MI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, David Lee Croy and a brother, James Dennis Elliott.
Friends may visit with Roxanne’s family from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at the North Salem Church of God, North Michigan Road, Plymouth and on Monday for one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. funeral service in the church.
